Fellowships
Thank you for your interest in the fellowship programs in the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences at Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. We believe our fellows have a soundly-structured educational platform and clinical opportunities allowing them to acquire the knowledge, clinical skills and professional attitudes necessary to become first-rate specialists in their field.
In partnership with ECU Health Medical Center, our department offers three ACGME-accredited fellowship programs: a three-year training in Adult Cardiovascular Disease, a two-year training in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, and a one-year training in Interventional Cardiology. In addition, we also carry an unaccredited fellowship program, a one-year training program in Minimally Invasive and Robotic Cardiac Surgery.
Our teaching mission is shared with the East Carolina Heart Institute at ECU Health Medical Center. Our patients and fellows benefit from a 120-bed heart hospital, dedicated operating rooms, 13 interventional labs and other exceptional technology resources, including robotically-assisted and minimally invasive cardiac surgery and percutaneous procedures in our newly opened hybrid operating room. Our center also has outstanding advanced imaging equipment, including two nuclear cameras, a dual-source 64-slice CT scanner, 3-D echocardiographic evaluation and stress echocardiography. Our faculty are committed to the undertaking of quality teaching, and research opportunities are plentiful, including collaborative work with basic scientists.
