Vascular and Endovascular Surgery fellowship training at East Carolina University’s Brody School of Medicine is a two-year traditional training program, accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).Applications are accepted only through ERAS from December through January, interviews will occur February through March.  The match is in May through NRMP each year. One position is filled each year.

Training takes place at the East Carolina Heart Institute, which is a joint venture between the Brody School of Medicine and ECU Health Medical Center.

The institute is comprised of a newly opened state-of-the-art outpatient and inpatient center. The section of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery has full access to modern endovascular suites, contemporary cardiovascular operating rooms and dedicated inpatient and outpatient cardiovascular patient care facilities. The section is supported by a clinical research program, and the fellow will have time and support for research in addition to exposure to all facets of open and minimally invasive Vascular and Endovascular Surgery. The faculty is comprised of five fellowship trained surgeons.

Candidates should have completed an ACGME approved residency program in General Surgery to qualify.

Required documents to be reviewed through ERAS are:

  • ERAS Application
  • ERAS CV form
  • Personal Statement
  • 3 CURRENT letters of Recommendation; one MUST be from your current Program Director (Letters cannot be more than 6 months old)
  • Copy of medical school diploma
  • MSPE (Dean’s Letter)
  • ABSITE scores for ALL years
  • USMLE transcript showing scores of Steps 1, 2k, 2s, 3
  • Copy of medical school diploma
  • Photo
