Message from the Chief
Welcome to the Division of Cardiology in the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences of the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Through education, research and patient care, our faculty physicians are also pioneers in innovation — discovering and creating new technologies and treatments that best fit our patients’ needs.
As chief of the Division of Cardiology, I want to encourage you to learn more about our faculty, providers and partnerships with ECU Health and ECU Health Medical Center. Our cardiologists work together to care for patients in state-of-the-art facilities on both campuses, while our focus is offering solutions for cardiac care to patients from across eastern North Carolina. Our department and division are committed to the mission of the Brody School of Medicine and East Carolina University to improve the quality of life of people in our region and beyond, by drawing on our experiences and expertise in provision of care, education and research.
Our division includes world experts in cardiology and cardiac psychology as well as physicians and researchers who are exploring and navigating the latest treatment options and cardiac-focused technologies. Our approach to cardiology is multi-faceted and patient inclusive; it is tailored to evolving with new knowledge around one of the most prevalent health care issues facing patients in the East. Our breadth also includes clinical research and clinical trials, including those on national and international fronts.
My own experience and ideals directed my career path toward ECU and the Brody School of Medicine after years serving as a leader at institutions along the East Coast. I was drawn to eastern North Carolina because of my desire to make a difference in the lives of patients and to create solutions for complex cardiac cases. Brody and ECU are also a natural fit for my love of teaching, and our faculty are all driven to help shape tomorrow’s cardiologists and cardiac care providers.
I am honored to lead the Division of Cardiology, a group committed to the people and communities of eastern North Carolina, the state and beyond.
