Continuity Clinic Curriculum

The goal of continuity clinic is to provide the learner with a longitudinal experience with cardiac disease. By following the same patients throughout his/her fellowship, the fellow will learn by experience the manifestations, progression, control and occasionally cure of cardiac illnesses. The fellow will develop the diagnostic and therapeutic skills needed to become a competent practitioner in the out-patient setting. He/she will also learn empathy and the skill set needed to gain a patient’s trust and co-operation, a requisite for good patient care. All care will be provided under the supervision of staff cardiologists who will mentor the fellow both in cardiology care and in understanding how to navigate through the system of care. As the learner progresses, he/she will be given progressively more independence in patient care.

By the end of the fellow ship the fellow will feel at ease in any out-patient setting, in diagnosing and treating complex diseases in complex patients and will be fully trained to enter the cardiology world as independent skilled practitioners.
