Awards
Lynn H. Orr, Jr. MD Award to the Best Outstanding Fellow of the Year
The Lynn H.Orr, Jr., M.D. Award is given once each year to a fellow chosen by vote of the cardiology teaching faculty who most personifies the qualities of scholarship, clinical excellence, and passionate commitment to the continuing education of cardiology fellows. Dr. Orr himself set the highest of standards in these and so many other areas, and it is to honor him and to honor the fellows selected that the award was created. It was instituted in the year 2010.
In addition, the continuation of this award as a departmental tradition at the fellows’ annual graduation banquet emphasizes the continuing commitment of the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences to the highest standards of professionalism and teaching. As a tangible reminder of the award, the fellow selected for this honor receives an engraved stethoscope, a recognition plaque, and identification as the recipient of this award in the cardiology section awards and honors wall area.
