Education Overview
The Department of Cardiovascular Sciences of the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University has a variety of high quality educational programs each week, ranging from programs specifically designed for medical students to continuing medical education programs with Category 1 CME hours for faculty and private physicians.
Category 1 CME credit is available for a number of presentations in the Wednesday noon Imaging Conference series and for a number of talks in the Friday noon Cardiology Grand Rounds series. In addition, Journal Club is held the second Wednesday of the month to enhance fund of knowledge by interpreting new studies or reviewing classical papers. These programs are announced on a monthly basis. The Department offers educational opportunities for faculty and nursing staff through the Institutional Cardiosource website. Further information on these opportunities is available through the departmental offices.
Medical student education is provided through the M3 Cardiovascular Disease Clerkship (two weeks) and through subspecialty electives on the inpatient cardiology services.
