Curriculum and Typical Schedule

The Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program at ECU is a fully accredited ACGME twelve month training program. This is a clinically oriented program and is characterized by a strong educational commitment and research opportunities. Ten months are spent in the cardiac catheterization laboratories learning directly from three full-time faculty members and two months spent in rotation with Vascular Surgery. One month of research is allowed and can be taken in blocks or concurrently with clinical rotations (this is subject to approval by the program director). Each fellow is expected to participate and complete a research project during their time here.

The Interventional Cardiology Training Program includes weekly Cath and CT Surgery-Cardiology conferences as well as a monthly Journal Club and a weekly Grand Rounds. Other conferences offered through the department include Clinical Case conference, Nuclear-Pathology conferences, Electrophysiology Conferences and Echo Conferences. Interventional Cardiology Fellows are encouraged, but not required, to attend all departmental conferences.
